We were delighted by the performances of the following bands and want to thank them for supporting this wonderful event:
AfterMath
AfterMath's roots are in the Austin School of Music's Rock Camp experience. Dustin, Justin and Rachel came together from different Rock Camp bands to form AfterMath in the summer of 2005. Livvy joined in 2007 and the foursome has been rockin' ever since. AfterMath's influences are many and their style is varied, but the term "melodic rock" seems to best describe their sound. Strong lead vocals, driving bass lines, rock steady drums and lead guitar riffs that can scream or whisper. The band has a strong set of original tunes, but also can cover the best from the Beatles to Santana. AfterMath was voted a Top Ten Teen Band in the 2007 Austin Chronicle Music Poll and was a finalist in the 2008 "Taste of Addison" Festival contest. Visit Website
Edison Chair
Edison Chair is a three piece teen rock band from Austin, Texas that brings an innovative, eclectic style of music to the forefront of the Austin youth scene. Focused on quality songwriting and musicianship rather than on digital effects or synthesizers, band members Martin Aker, Wes Armstrong and Nathan Thrash make a tight musical partnership that grabs hold and doesn't let go with songs good enough to prompt multi-platinum songwriter Monte Warden (Kelly Willis, Patty Loveless, George Jones, Bruce Robison, Travis Tritt, and George Strait,) to bring some of New York and LA's finest major label AR producers Bruce Brody (Rickie Lee Jones, Lone Justice, Pulp Fiction Soundtrack, Maria McKee) and Jose Alcantar (Blue October) to town to take them into the studio. Carson Brock Band
The Carson Brock Group forms an electrifying power trio that is nothing short of amazing. Carson has been playing the guitar since he was 2 years old. Major influences include Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Eric Johnson. In the winter of 2007, Carson joined forces with bassist, Jacob Draper, and drummer, Victor Ziolkowski. With every performance, they have pushed the limits of their progressive blues-based original compositions and brought back the intensity of the power trio’s of the 1960’s. Together they have won numerous battle of the band awards and have astounded audiences at every venue they play. Most recently, they were 1st place winners at the NAMM Texas School Jam competition awarding their high school music programs $3,000.00 and traveled to Frankfurt, Germany to perform at the renowned Musik Messe, the largest music festival and expo event worldwide. Carson, Jacob and Victor had the tremendous privilege of performing at Tommy Cain’s Austin Rocks Autism benefit last October and feel very honored to be asked to participate in this most meaningful and worthy Teens 4 Autism event this coming September. Gabriella and Jordan
Gabriella and Jordan de Cardenas have enjoyed making music since they were as young as two and eight. Their originals are a reflection of their diverse cultural background, and they wish to bridge cultures by creating a sound that is appealing to all people. Their inspiration comes from a cross-section of talented artists such as John Mayer, Ray Charles, Blue October, KT Tunstall and Norah Jones. Audiences of all ages can appreciate the variety of their selections and their jazzy, soulful style. During a performance at the Austin City Hall Plaza Stage, Austin Music Foundation Director, Brian Stovall, described Gabriella’s voice as “smoky”, and quite surprising for a 14 year old. Jordan’s playful nature and passion for native drumming brings an exciting pulse to their music. Gabriella, now 15, and Jordan, 21, recently joined other young performers at the Long Center to support The Austin School for the Performing and Visual Arts, ASPVA. They also look forward to performing at the Austin Music Hall with Teens4Autism in support of Thoughtful House. Visit Website
