Teens4Autism - About Us

Why Teens4Autism?
by Georgia and Tina Napolitano

We were so moved after attending a luncheon for a charity set up to help children worldwide with Autism, we started to think of ways that we could help them. We both wanted it to be something that people could relate to and have fun with at the same time.

Over the past 8 years, I have been helping my daughter Georgia manage her singing career. During this journey we have both met some amazing teen performers and their families. Then it came to both of us. Why not start a website and bring not only the teen performers together but also the teenagers who are touched in some way by someone they know that has autism, and who all share the same goals of wanting to help. Our first step was to build the website and the 2nd step is hosting our first ever concert at the famous Austin Music Hall, with some of the most amazing teen bands and singers in Austin. We are doing this to raise awareness about autism and also raise money for research and treatment for autism... and so the dream was born.

It is our intention to reach out to the teens of the World to help them locally host fund raisers and support many charities that are reaching out to support families affected by a child with autism. In so many cases the family has to turn all their attentions to the autistic child both emotionally and financially and many of the siblings are also greatly affected. This website is for teens that need to talk to others in similar situations. It is also spring board for teens that want to join others and reach out to help.

We are hosting our first event at the Austin Music Hall on September 12th, 2009 and we have the most amazing team of people who are helping to pull the whole event together. Read more about them on the team page and if you would like to be involved in any way please see the contact page.
